Questions related to Broadband and Internet access

This section covers the frequently asked questions by the users of the tariff simulator up to now. If you do not find the answer to one of your questions, do not hesitate to contact us by sending an e-mail at the following address: info@rab.bm

If a question is often asked, we will integrate it into this “FAQ”.

  1. Why do I have to tell how I wish to do the installation?
  2. In the Internet module, why do I have to tell if I have a telephone subscription to BTC?
  3. Which speed do I need?
  4. How can I be sure of the speed I will get?
  5. Why am I not able to see my Internet tariff plan?

Why do I have to tell how I wish to do the installation?

In the cases of internet service, this information can be important for two reasons. The monthly average cost can vary according to the type of installation done. Some plans are only offered in one of the 2 versions: either with an installation of the "do-it-yourself" type or with an installation done by a technician.

In the Internet module, why do I have to tell if I have a telephone subscription to BTC?

If you already have a telephone subscription to BTC, you can obtain an Internet product at alternative operators with no additional cost for connection;

If you don't have a telephone subscription to BTC, the alternative operator will have you pay an extra charge for the use of the BTC line (normally this extra charge is cheaper than the normal telephone subscription to BTC).

Which speed do I need?

If you have trouble determining the speed you need, click on the blue (i) to give you help. This pop-up will display a table showing the download speed required for the different web uses.

How can I be sure of the speed I will get?

The attention is drawn to the fact that the real data transfer of a customer can sometimes fluctuate over time and can in certain cases prove to be substantially lower than the maximum speed announced by the Internet broadband access operator.

Real speed can be impacted by various factors such as quality of the connection cable, length of connection up to the electronic equipment of the operator, number of users simultaneously accessing the Internet in the neighborhood of the customer, internal wiring of the building, IT hardware used ,etc.

Therefore, users are invited to contact the operator of their choice to check, before signing their contract, the real speeds they will actually benefit from.

Why am I not able to see my Internet tariff plan?

The website displays plans only entered by the service providers.

However, it is possible that your tariff plan is no longer showed by our tool. Several reasons can explain it:

  • Either your plan is no longer for sale. In this case, please contact your operator in order to obtain information about this tariff plan;
  • Or the operator has not introduced any tariff plan.

It should also be noted that the scope of this module does not currently include prepaid Internet offers.
